Term 2 Purging and planning(no pictures or craft)
I did a little victory dance as the last child headed out the door. I cleaned the entire day and managed to clock up 9851 steps on my pedometer during this. I wrote signs ready to be laminated and placed around the house DO NOT PILE STUFF ON HERE, HERE OR HERE, etc etc
I am one Virgo amongst a flock of ferals and I cannot fathom how they can create so much mess.
What does that have to do with nunde creations? A lot. Working at home, as I have mentioned before, while the kids are on school holidays is virtually impossible so this takes up 12 weeks then add the 4 weeks my Husband has at home a year so that's 16 weeks. 3 months. That leaves 9 months to be productive. Take out weekends @ 4 weekends a month making it another 36 days so there's another monthish. Then take away a month of hot weather making it unbearable to work in my shed. 5 months. So I am left with 7 months of the year to make money. My work is clearly seasonal. I lack Doris Day's personality so I can't just switch off and work while my house is turned into Bourke street. Kids knocking on doors every 5 minutes, phones ringing for the teenagers and spare kids staying for dinner or overnight. I wonder how those mums manage. The mums all over the internet that blog about their fantastic creations that people buy the minute it finds Etsy or eBay and run successful business'. I wonder. I have done parenting courses till my eyes glaze over. I have done personal development courses, business courses and courses about doing courses. I wouldn't swap my kids for quids, however, they sure remind you that no matter what your level of training in time management is, if you work at home and they see a light on in your shed, they will manage your time for you.
So with that purge over, I can now begin afresh. This term holds great possibilities with perfect weather to work in.
I now have my schedules synced to all my comps using One note and on my phone and my gorgeous leather organizer. My life is one big series of alarms, reminders and schedules so that maybe, with some luck and less distractions, I will have a sense of achievement by the end of Term 2.

Now I am excited

Hi Melanie,
Aaahhhh.....I might have some invaluable advise for you - its called a lock on the door. Mine on the studio door is forever getting stuck....with me in the studio of course and the kids on the outside yelling that they can't get the door open. "Oh really" I say. "Go and tell dad". LOL
Honestly, the lengths some working mums have to go to just to get some crafting time!!!!
Enjoyed your post and totally relating.
Hugs,
Kerryanne
Oh I can SO relate!! I'm the single non-ADHD person in the family, and honestly, the mess is unbelievable. And my crew are nearly grown up (16, 19 and 43 ;) ...
I have an office which I go into and ignore the mess, until it's dinner and I have to clean the kitchen before I can cook, and then make dinner, and then - after asking everyone else to clean up the kitchen - they 'graciously' do about 5 minutes of 'work' and leave the rest for me the next day. Sigh.
And then they say I'm 'uptight' - NO, I'd just like the place to be moderately TIDY and somewhat CLEAN. It's a constant struggle.
The lock sounds perfect and I think I will make myself a Do Not Disturb or something more threatening.
I know its awful but I feel so much better now that I know others suffer from this too.
:)
